Environmental testing, namely environmental reliability testing, refers to the ability of a product to complete a specified function within a specified time under specified conditions. In the process of design and application, the product is constantly subjected to the influence of its own and external climatic environment and mechanical environment, but still needs to be able to work normally, which requires testing equipment to verify it.

Environmental tests can be mainly divided into the following three types: climate test, mechanical test and comprehensive test.

1. Mechanical test mainly includes mechanical vibration, mechanical shock, drop, collision, steady-state acceleration test, etc.;

2. The climate test mainly includes temperature test, temperature and humidity test, air pressure test, water test, salt spray test, sand and dust test, gas corrosion test, etc.;

The environmental test is the basic test of the product, and only the products that have passed the environmental qualification test can be put into the reliability growth test. Testing must be performed early in development to ensure adequate time and resources to correct deficiencies exposed during testing, and these corrective actions must be validated under environmental stress, and this information is included as an integral part of the reliability program Failure Reporting, Analysis, Corrective Action System (FRACAS).


At the same time, this kind of test basically adopts the laboratory test method, which is carried out in a specified controlled environment. The environmental equipment and test methods used, including the corresponding fixture design principles, can be learned from each other. The research on the environmental conditions used for this test provides the prerequisite information for the formulation of the reliability test conditions, and the determination of the temperature and vibration values in the reliability test profile is basically the same as the determination of the corresponding environmental conditions.


Environmental tests can verify the reliability of products in the product development stage, trial production stage and mass production sampling inspection stage, which is beneficial to enterprises to save R&D and production costs and improve product quality.
